Our founder developed Riddle Street Montessori as a response to her personal search for appropriate education for her own exceptionally gifted children. The Dallas-Fort Worth area lacked an elementary school that had a curriculum designed to accommodate gifted students. A pioneering effort was needed to set right this anomaly.

She became an advocate for her children's needs for more challenging materials and for the opportunity to learn something new every day. She found "regular classrooms" were boring; understanding and finishing work quickly led to being given busy work or just being told to sit quietly causing dislike for school and leading to behavior issues.

Gifted students think and process information differently than the average student. They thrive with flexible pacing, compacted curriculum, intense individual exploration, and hands-on learning. The reminder to "slow down and wait for other students to catch up" only hinders the learning process leading to stagnation of the student's academic growth.

After a long period of in-depth research Riddle Street Montessori was conceptualized to serve these extraordinary children. We believe we are educating the visionaries of our future.
